Jose joined Island Green Power in 2021 as Chairman for Island Green Power Spain SL. Jose was Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism of the Spanish Government (December 2011-April 2016). Prior to this he was the Deputy Prime Minister of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands (June 2007-October 2010).

Our mission is to help countries increase their solar energy usage, making more renewable energy possible whilst drastically reducing carbon emissions. To achieve this, we are working on projects around the world, including the UK, Spain, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.

Macquarie acquires stake in UK solar developer Island Green Power
Macquarie Green Investment Group Renewable Energy Fund 2 (MGREF2) has acquired a 50% stake in UK renewable developer Island Green Power. Concurrent to this, Macquarie Asset Management – which manages the MGREF2 on behalf of its institutional investors – has also acquired a stake in a 65MW ready-to-build solar project in Suffolk, UK.

Island Green Power to develop 1GW+ of solar on ex-coal sites
Two coal power stations in the east midlands – Cottam and West Burton A – are now to be home to solar PV with a combined capacity of over 1GW. Developed by Island Green Power, the Cottam Solar Project is to generate up to 600MW, while West Burton Solar Project is to generate up to 480MW. The sites will also feature energy storage facilities.
